August Wilhelm von Schlegel Visiting Professorship for Translation
The August Wilhelm von Schlegel Visiting Professorship for translation was established in 2007. This visiting professorship is funded by the Deutscher Übersetzerfonds e.V. and is assigned to literary translators. The laureates are asked to critically reflect upon literary translation as genre sui generis. This includes theories and methods of translation, comparative textual analysis, and the role of translation in cultural and literary transmission over the centuries. During the winter term each visiting professor teaches a course for which undergraduate and graduate students can receive credits.
Karin Betz is the Visiting Professor in the winter term 2021/22.
