Video Series

  • Narration and Embodiment. A Video Lecture Series
    “Narration and Embodiment. A Video Lecture Series” is part of the research transfer project “Circulating Narratives – Entangling Communities: Case Studies in Global Performance Art” in collaboration with Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin. The project is hosted at the international research Cluster of Excellence EXC 2020 Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective at Freie Universität Berlin and accompanies the museum's exhibition “Collecting Entanglements and Embodied Histories”, curated by Anna-Catharina Gebbers, Grace Samboh, Gridthiya Gaweewong and June Yap, initiated by the Goethe-Institut, which will open in November 2021 in Berlin. “Narration and Embodiment” brings together a selection of 15-min video contributions by internationally active artists, curators, and scholars, addressing the blind spots in traditional historiography in 'the West' as well as the consequences of colonialism and relationships capable of advancing the deconstruction of the ‘Western’ canon. The videos contribute to the project’s broader inquiry into how embodied creative practices, such as performance, can unfold alternative narratives, practices of embodying histories and the transfer of embodied knowledge.

    The video lecture series is organized by Siobhan Leddy and Liselotte Schinzing and will be published online in December 2021 on the Cluster's website and its YouTube channel: www.temporal-communities.de

  • Laboratory: Social Sculpture – Temporal Communities
    The Freie Universität Berlin and the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin develope a one-day art laboratory, as part of the Temporal Communities Cluster of Excellence. EXC 2020. The event will take place at the “Aktionsraum” of the Hamburger Bahnhof in the context of an upcoming exhibition: “Nation, Narration, Narcosis: Collecting Entanglements and Embodied Histories”. The laboratory will feature a program of practice-led workshops led by various artists, who will use the exhibition and its audiences as a starting point for sonic and visual experimentation. The lab will be accompanied by researchers of metaLAB (at) fu_berlin in collaboration with metaLAB (at) Harvard .
