Abstract

In this talk we will provide an introduction to Diatech, a web tool for analysing and visualizing linguistic variation. This tool offers the user the ability to manage their database, generate statistics and display results using different graphic methods such as beam maps, honeycomb maps, synoptic maps and cluster analyses. It is available online for registered users. We will also present the procedure used to develop a ToBI annotation system for the standard Basque. This system is the result of carefully analysing the stress and pitch accent systems of the different Basque dialects, then applying Diatech to these dialectal data and finally focusing on the standard variety of Basque.
