Information for incoming ERASMUS+ students

Welcome to the Intitute of Romance Philology at Freie Universität!

On this page you will find important information about studying Romance languages and literature.

For all administrative questions about the Erasmus programm (not specifically concerning Romance Studies), please contact the general Erasmus office at Freie Universität. On their website you will find useful information on how to organize your study stay in Berlin. You can also find helpful information online on the Distributed Campus Portal.

The Erasmus+ coordinator of the Institute of Romance Languages and Literatures is Prof. Dr. Malte Rosemeyer. He can be reached via the following e-mail address: erasmus@romanistik.fu-berlin.de.

Choosing your classes

In the course catalogue, you will see that the department’s studies are organized into modules. However, as an Erasmus student, you do not need to follow this structure. Instead, simply select the seminars and lectures that interest you. It is useful to check with your home university which classes they will accept as part of your study stay.

The majority of the courses are taught in German. Therefore, at least a CEFR B1 language level in German is required.

Transcript of Records (ToR)

At the end of your stay, we will issue you with a transcript of records for your home university. To enable us to do this, please send your ToR request form (english or german)or visit your Erasmus Manager during his/her office hours or their secretaries with the following necessary documents:

  • Go to Campus Management and printout a list of your "Noten und Punkte" (grades and points).
  • If necessary, bring any additional ‘Scheine’ (grade certificates) for other courses that are not registered in Campus Management. The lecturer will normally issue you with either a ‘Teilnahmeschein’ or ‘Leistungsschein’ (participatory or active attendance grade certificate) at the end of the semester. In case your lecturer does not have a copy of the necessary grade certificate form, it is possible to download it here.

The ToR may only be issued once you have collected all your grade certificates. Should this not be the case before your departure, then please send us the required documents by post, or scan them and send them via email, once you have received them. There is no deadline for issuing the ToR!
