Studying Romance philology at Freie Universität Berlin means being able to engage with more languages and literatures than anywhere else in Germany. In addition to French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, there are modules and courses in Galician, Catalan, and Basque. Literature is studied with a view to other media such as film and comics, and languages are learned with native speakers. The offerings of the many cultural and research centers at Freie Universität and in Berlin are open to students. The institute's professors are globally connected in their research, and international scholars are regular guests at the institute.
