Information for applicants

The application deadline for the 2025 FSGS call has ended. The 2026 call will be published in the fall of 2025.

Please only apply via the online application platform for the positions and scholarships advertised each fall. We cannot consider unsolicited applications.

All formally approved applications will go through an internal review process in November. The selection committee uses two internal votes to select applicants who will be invited to the selection interviews. You will also receive a reply in case your application could not have been considered for formal reasons.

During the interviews in March, each applicant has 5–10 minutes to give a presentation on their project, followed by a 10–15 minute discussion. The prospective supervisors selected in the application are also invited to this interview. You do not need to bring your application documents with you. Shortly after the selection interviews you will receive a decisive reply on whether or not your application was succesful.

Raising external funding

Members of the FSGS have access to the Graduate School’s material resources, but it's often beneficial and practical to seek additional funding for your project. On the other hand, short-term fellows do not have a budget for travel expenses. You can find relevant calls for proposals and programs here.
