Every year Berlin organizes "The Long Night of Science", in which the city invited all scientific and science-related institutions to spectacular experiments, exciting lectures, science shows and guided tours, giving visitors the opportunity to look behind the scenes.
Our Institute participates every year, and here you can see some of the highlights.
The Institute of Romance Philology at the Long Night of Science 2025
On 28 June 2025, the Institute of Romance Philology took part in the Long Night of Science 2025 with a diverse programme. Under the general theme of “Digitality - Digitalization in Research and Teaching”, the Institute presented current projects and perspectives from Romance studies research: from love inscriptions and barcodes in books to the analysis of speech sounds, the use of digital tools in foreign language teaching and apps to combat language death in the Amazon region.
Numerous visitors attended interactive talks, explored poster exhibitions and took part in hands-on activities and language experiments.
