Publications

The International Research Center »Interweaving Performance Cultures« follows three different publication strategies:

The first supports books by single authors, edited books and articles by our Fellows, the Directors, the Advisory Board and staff members as, for instance, the book Global Ibsen. Performing Multiple Modernities, edited by Erika Fischer-Lichte and Christel Weiler, The Theatre of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Performance Traditions of the Maghreb by Khalid Amine and Marvin Carlson, Terror and Performance by Rustom Bharucha or Erika Fischer-Lichte's Dionysus Resurrected: Performances of Euripides' The Bacchae in a Globalizing World as well as her most recent book Tragedy's Endurance. Performances of Greek Tragedies and Cultural Identity in Germany since 1800.

Secondly, we are publishing a multi-volume series on specific aspects of the interweaving of performance cultures in cooperation with current and former Fellows, for instance, the first volume of the IRC book series The Politics of Interweaving Performance Cultures. Beyond Postcolonialism, edited by Erika Fischer-Lichte, Torsten Jost, and Saskya Iris Jain.

Finally, our online platform Textures brings together key articles, such as Erika Fischer-Lichte's »Interweaving Cultures in Performance: Different States of Being In-Between« a dialogue between Rustom Bharucha and Erika Fischer-Lichte discussing and criticising the notion of intercultural theatre, or Gabriele Brandstetter's »Interweaving Dance Cultures«.
