Ritchie Robertson
Between January and March 2010, Ritchie N.N. Robertson, Professor of German at the University of Oxford and Fellow of St. John's College, is staying at the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School. He has published numerous monographs and articles on German and Austrian literature, to name but a few: Thomas Mann, Kafka and Heine, but also on Nietzsche and the "Jewish question" in German literature from 1749 to 1939. He has also translated a number of German literary works from the 18th and 19th centuries into English, published by Penguin, such as novellas by E.T.A. Hoffmann, Karl Philipp Moritz' novel "Anton Reiser“ and Heinrich Heine's "The Harz Journey". Since 2000 he has been the editor of the journal Modern Language Review. In Berlin he will complete his current research project on Schiller and the poetics of conspiracy.
