Study abroad at the University of Chicago
The FSGS has an exchange agreement with the Department of Germanic Studies and the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Chicago.
Would you like to study abroad at the University of Chicago next year? Then:- inform our office by April 30st.
- put together an application (German / English) including the following documents: letter of motivation, outline of the dissertation project, CV, certificate of enrollment. Please submit your application as a PDF by email to our office.
- ask your supervisor to send a short statement of support for your planned stay aborad by email to our office.
- check the VISA requirements for the USA and ensure that your passport is valid for the duration of your planned stay. Please send a PDF copy of the first two pages of your passport to our office by September 30st at the latest. By the end of the year, you will receive an invitation letter from the University of Chicago via our office, which you will need in order to apply for your visa.
- Check with your health insurance provider whether you will be covered during your stay in the USA. The department in Chicago will provide insurance free of charge; however, coverage is limited. You can find additional advice in our internal collection of experience reports.
