Bachelor's in English Philology (with Teaching Option)

Bachelor's degree program English Philology (with Teaching Option) - Subject and core areas

The BA program English Philology focuses on the language, literature and cultures of the Anglophone world (outside North America).

The programme consists of practical language courses and disciplinary courses. The latter cover the four core areas of LinguisticsLiterary Studies, Medieval Studies and Cultural Studies. Further information on the areas and a list of the staff can be found via the respective links. If you are studying with teaching option, you will additionally complete subject-specific didactic components for the teaching subject English. Information on these didactic components can be found in the checklists as well as in the study and examination regulations for the Teacher‑Education component/Lehramtsbezogene Berufswissenschaft  (see below).

Program Structure and Module Overview (Summaries and Checklists)

The following summaries and checklists provide an overview of the modules included in our bachelor's degree program. These lists may assist in organizing your studies; however, they do not replace a careful reading of the study and examination regulations. In both the Teacher‑Education component (Lehramtsbezogene Berufswissenschaft, LBW) and the Bachelor’s program in Primary Education, students are required to enrol in the module “Fundamentals of English Didactics” within the English Didactics curriculum. Please refer to the study and examination regulations applicable to your program for a detailed description of this module as listed below.
