Gastwissenschaftler / Visiting Researcher

Facundo Vega is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. He received his PhD from Cornell University. His research focuses on political and contemporary philosophy. Vega’s scholarship has been supported by fellowships and awards from ICI Berlin, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the DAAD, the Martin-Heidegger-Stiftung, American Friends of Marbach, the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies. He is the editor or co-editor of published and forthcoming special issues and volumes for diacritics, Philosophy Today, and De Gruyter. His research has appeared in these venues as well as in The European Legacy, Journal for Cultural Research, and Cahier de L’Herne, among others. He has been a visiting scholar at Columbia University, The New School for Social Research, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). He is a member of the International Jury of the Hannah-Arendt-Preis für politisches Denken and was named Researcher of the Year in the Humanities by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Vega is currently working on two books, Extraordinary Matters: The Political after Martin Heidegger and The Planetary Condition: Hannah Arendt and the Crises of the Present. As a recipient of a Global Faculty grant from Freie Universität Berlin, he is collaborating with the Hannah-Arendt-Forschungsstelle on research and teaching concerning Hannah Arendt’s political thought.
