The programme in Literature Education/German Literature explores literature and other media from the perspective of acquiring literary-aesthetic competence. It combines the study of literature – in both a narrow and broader sense – with a focus on pedagogical processes. The question of selecting and studying literary works is addressed alongside the question of how students can meaningfully engage with them. The programme takes into account educational theory as well as developmental perspectives and empirical approaches to German language instruction, literary education, and the teaching profession.
