Comparing maximal activation latencies in human brains and simulated brain networks.

This figure shows the time course of activation of different cortical areas after hearing action words like ‘run’ or ‘kick’. The boxes show the average time until maximal activation, the bars 1.96 SE. On the left are the results of human participants, on the right are simulation results from the corresponding model areas. The order in which real and simulated cortical areas reach maximal activation is similar, showing how activity cascades from superior temporal to inferior frontal regions before reaching the superior central action-related areas both in the human brain and in the simulated brain-network.
