Seminars and Colloquia

Structured PhD program at Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School

It is the purpose of a structured program of doctoral studies to support the realization of the projects under its umbrella as effectively as possible. Various aspects of the 'structure' are:
  • A consulting team of at least two university professors, who (interdisciplinarily) oversee the project together.

  • A yearly evaluation of the progress made and to be made in the year to come, taking place in a team meeting with the supervisors in June and documented in a work report in July.

  • A presentation of your own project in an interdisciplinary doctoral colloquium and in a meeting with the consulting team each winter semester.

  • Seminar, workshop and consulting offered by the professors assigned to the Graduate School and the international guest professors.

  • Training and mentoring offers concerning 'Transferable Skills' and occupational field analysis by Dahlem Research School (DRS) of Freie Universität Berlin, PhD-Net of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and FSGS in cooperation with the master course of study 'Angewandte Literaturwissenschaft' (Applied Literary Studies).

  • Support in delivering your own lectures or seminars, as far as the responsible departments may provide such opportunities.

  • Support in going abroad.

  • Support in hosting events and inviting guests.
