The Laboratory for Experimental Linguistics (LabEx) is a research lab in the Institut für Romanische Philologie at Freie Universität Berlin. Our main areas of research are bilingualism, grammatical interfaces, historical linguistics, language contact, language acquisition, and sociolinguistics. We combine theoretical and experimental research focused on the study of Romance languages (Catalan, French, Italian, Occitan, Portuguese, Sardinian, Spanish) in contact with other languages such as Basque or Quechua.
The lab provides a regular forum for discussion of a range of research topics and for collaboration to promote empirical, theoretical and applied research. We run regular reading groups and research meetings.
