Information about German and English Language Requirements of the MA in Critical Dance Studies:

Within 2024, the program will transition its language requirements. Level C1 English and B2 German will be required. When this happens, the following proofs of B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in German language will be accepted:

  • DSH-1
  • TestDaF with at least level 3 in all four parts
  • B2 CEFR certificate with grades from a language school
  • language evaluation test, which attests skills at level B2 CEFR
  • proof of attendance for C1 language course (ongoing or completed course)

Proof of German language skills must be uploaded to the uni-assist application portal by the application deadline.

Numerous language centers in Germany and abroad provide the necessary language tests. Here are some links to get you started:

Learning German:

Check out the German as a Foreign Language department of the Language Centre. The Language Center of Freie Universität Berlin offers pre-semester courses and semester-long language courses for students of Freie Universität Berlin. There are no DSH preparation courses. All applicants can use the Centre for Independent Language Learning for individual exam preparation.

For admission to the Master's degree programme, applicants must prove that they meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent other university degree.

The degree program is a limited admission program.
