Literature and Epistemology Group

The Literature and Epistemology group comprises students and instructors of literature and philosophy, who jointly discuss and develop concepts for the epistemological understanding of literature and the interpretation of its meanings.

This topic strikes at the heart of the work conducted within the humanities. Methodical exploration of the subject demands work in philosophy, literary and art studies, and linguistics concerning the central concepts and periods in Western intellectual history. The objective is for systematic, historically aligned conferences and accompanying volumes (from the series “Literatur und Erkenntnis,” published by Walter de Gruyter) to focus on each of these areas individually.

The group’s work is to begin with a program conference entitled “Literature and Epistemology.”
