You can buy a ticket at a machine or from the bus driver, you need a ticket for zones AB (2,80 Euro, see below for more information on how to use the tickets).
There are different options to get to the hotel – check www.bvg.de if you feel comfortable with organising the trip yourself.
The easiest option is to take bus line X9 until stop 'S + U Zoologischer Garten' (ride takes a bit more than 20 minutes). Change here to bus line 100 (direction towards 'S + U Alexanderplatz' - ride takes about 7 minutes) and get off at stop 'Lützowplatz'. Walk against the direction of travel of the bus and turn left at the next corner (about 100 meter). The hotel is on your right.
You have to buy a ticket at a machine and you need a ticket for zones ABC (3,40 Euro, see below for more information on how to use the tickets).
There are many different options to get to the hotel – check www.bvg.de if you feel comfortable with organising the trip yourself and with changing trains/buses several times.
The easiest option with only one change (running only every 15 to 30 minutes, however) is to take a train to 'S + U Zoologischer Garten'. This can be train RE towards Dessau (36 minutes to Zoo, platform 4) or RE towards Nauen (39 minutes to Zoo, platform 6 ) or the local S Bahn 'S9' towards Spandau (51 minutes to Zoo, platform 11). You have to check www.bvg.de or the timetable in the tunnel of the station to see which is the next train once you arrive.
At Zoologischer Garten, change to bus line 100 (direction towards 'S + U Alexanderplatz' - ride takes about 7 minutes) and get off at stop 'Lützowplatz'. Walk against the direction of travel of the bus and turn left at the next corner (about 100 meter). The hotel is on your right.

Berlin has a good public transport system with all lines operating frequently and at all times of the day. However distances in Berlin are often underestimated. If you come from some more central area, please allow for about 30 to 60 minutes travelling time out to FU.
A single trip costs € 2.80; you can buy a ticket including four trips for € 9 or a day ticket (Tageskarte) for unlimited travel for € 7. There are options for unlimited travel for 2, 3 or more days (Berlin WelcomeCard). Make sure that you buy a ticket for zone AB and don't forget to stamp your ticket on the platform before the trip (U-Bahn and S-Bahn) or in the car right as you enter a bus or a tram. Tickets are valid for city buses, trams, underground and local trains within the city limits. You can use a single fare for a direct and continuous journey within all of Berlin for up to 120 minutes even if you need to change several times or from one system to another. For further information on public transport see www.bvg.de.
