Conference venue

The workshop will take place in the Rostlaube building of Freie Universität Berlin at Habelschwerdter Allee 45.

Travelling in Berlin

Berlin has a very good public transport system with all lines operating frequently and at all times of the day. However distances in Berlin are often underestimated. If you come from some more central area, please allow for about 30 to 60 minutes travelling time out to FU or to Hotel Seminaris.  

A single trip costs € 2.70; you can buy a ticket including four trips for € 9. Make sure that you buy a ticket for zone AB and don't forget to stamp your ticket on the platform before the trip (U-Bahn and S-Bahn) or in the car right as you enter a bus or a tram. Tickets are valid for city buses, trams, underground and local trains within the city limits. You can use a single fare for a direct and continuous journey within all of Berlin even if you need to change several times or from one system to another. Travelling to FU

Freie Universität is located in the southwestern outskirts of Berlin. There are two train lines that take you to FU. Take U3 (direction 'Krumme Lanke' when coming from the center) and get off at 'Dahlem Dorf'. Or take S1 (direction 'Wannsee' when travelling from the center) and get off at 'Lichterfelde West'.

From Tegel airport

Take Bus line 109. Change at Jakob-Kaiser-Platz to U7 (direction Rudow). Change at Fehrbelliner Platz to U3 and get off at Dahlem Dorf. It takes about forty minutes.
A taxi from Tegel costs about € 30.

From Schönefeld airport

Take S45 to Südkreuz and change there to S41 or S46 (continuing on the same track). Go as far as Heidelberger Platz and change there to U3 (direction Krumme Lanke) and get off at Dahlem Dorf. The trip takes a little less than an hour.
A taxi from Schönefeld costs about € 42. 

From Hauptbahnhof (central station)

Take any S-Bahn line from track 16. Change at Zoologischer Garten to U9 (direction Rathaus Steglitz). After two stops, change at Spichernstraße to U3 (direction Krumme Lanke). Get off at Dahlem Dorf. This will take about 30 minutes. 
A taxi from Hauptbahnhof costs about € 28.

From Dahlem Dorf to Hotel Seminaris

For external speakers, rooms are reserved at the Seminaris CampusHotel. It is located on Takustraße 39, 14195 Berlin. Leave the U-Bahn platform via the stairs and then turn right. Walk straight into Iltisstraße. Take the next left (Lansstraße) and then right again (Takustraße) and you're already there.

From Dahlem Dorf to the conference venue

If you exit Dahlem Dorf station via the stairs, take a U-turn to the right. After 100m go left into Fabeckstraße. If you leave the platform via the escalator just turn left when leaving the escalator. You are already on Fabeckstraße. After another 100m turn right into Otto-von-Simson-Str. You are already approaching the FU building where the meeting takes place. However, we woud recommend that you continue until you get to the main street (Thielallee joining Habelschwerdter Allee) and turn left there. You are now walking along the Rostlaube part of the building. Keep walking to the very end of the building and take the last entrance on the left. It's a ten minutes walk.

From Lichterfelde West to the conference venue

When leaving the platform you take the exit 'Knesebeckstraße'. Once you're back on the street level, first turn right (Knesebeckstraße) and then turn left into the main street (Drakestraße). Keep walking straight across the huge junction and along Habelschwerdter Allee. After some 10-12 minutes you'll see the Rostlaube building on the right side. Take the very first entrance of the building. We are right here. Do not walk on to the main entrance.
Alternatively you can take bus line M11 (direction Dahlem Dorf) from Lichterfelde West station. The bus stop is not immediately located by the S-Bahn station so that you'll have to walk one block to the main street anyway. By bus, it's three stops to 'Hittorfstraße'. When you get off the bus, take the rightmost entrance of the Rostlaube building, not the main entrance.
