Opening Conference – “Media in the 21st Century”

17 November 2006

The inaugurational conference of BerlinMediaProfessionalSchool was held in November 2006 and titled “Media in the 21st Century”.

The future of media has begun and it has serious consequences for the media itself, its technologies and not least for its users. As Walter Benjamin put it 70 years ago: “During great periods of time, changes within the entire existence of the human collective have a profound effect on people’s sensory perception. The way in which human perception organizes itself – the medium in which this occurs – is not only natural but also dependent on history.” This juxtaposition of media development and individual as well as social reception provided the main focus of our opening conference.
