Anthonya Visser

Between December 1st and January 31, Anthonya Visser, Professor of German at the University of Leiden (Netherlands), is staying at the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School. Among her research interests are contemporary German literature, GDR literature and history and memory in German literature and film. She is Editor in Chief of the series of monographs  "Amsterdamer Beiträge zur neueren Germanistik". (You will find a complete list of her publications here.)

During her stay in Berlin, Dr Visser will complete her research project on literary construction of collective identity in post-unification Germany. This project is examining German literary texts dealing with German history, especially with the National Socialist with the GDR past. At the focus of this project are texts by Günter Grass, Heiner Müller, Volker Braun, Tanja Dückers, and Marcel Beyer.
