before the beginning           Apply for admission to the doctoral program at the Office of Examination and Regulations, then enroll for the program "Literary Studies"
1st year  
October Beginning of the doctoral program 
Winter semester Attendance of the 1. colloquium – presentation of the project (2 CP)
January Agreement on the supervision team: first supervisor is a member of FSGS; second supervisor is a member of FSGS or an external professor; third supervisor as a member of FSGS is necessary if the second supervisor is an external professor
February Statement on possible stay abroad in the second year (partner universities or own choice)

Summer semester

Attendance of seminars (altogether 15 CP = 3 seminars)
Summer semester Attendance of workshops of Dahlem Research School (altogether 8 CP as Transferable Skills = max. 16 workshop days)
May Arrangement of a team meeting on the work progress and for the grant renewal with all supervisors
May / June Team meeting with all supervisors as basis for the votes on grant renewal
June Hand over of the work report in the school's office (containing information on the work status and progress, past and future events, reflection of problems)
July Votes of the supervision team for the grant's renewal for one year
September Receipt of the renewal decision for the following year
2nd year

Winter semester Attendance of workshops of Dahlem Research School (altogether 8 CP as Transferable Skills = max. 16 workshop days)
